At Releasing Potential School new referrals are placed with us for a six-week part-time assessment period, after which their placement will be confirmed or the assessment period may be extended. Once a student has been formally offered a place at Releasing Potential School, they will access a bespoke programme that suits their individual needs. Students’ programmes are made up of a combination of the following elements.Â
Our Engage provision is based on site in small groups with a student to staff ratio of 2:1. Engage offers academic subjects and classroom based learning with a consistent Tutor and timetable.
Students access mentoring with a key member of staff on a 1:1 basis. This can be on or off site, as part of our Activation provision (where several 1:1s come together) or as a regular 1:1 day or days.
Students in years 9-13 can access work placement opportunities in real businesses. Students are supported by school staff who help to manage behaviour and embed the curriculum.
Students who struggle to engage with either a group or 1:1 environment are supported by specialist tutors. Students complete a range of subjects via online modules.
Full time group provision for students who can cope in a small classroom and access our full curriculum: Maths, English, Food Studies, Outdoor Education, PSD, Project & CDT.
Part Time bespoke provision for students who are not ready for a group environment or to access the full curriculum. AP often happens off site in the community or in the outdoors!
For post-16 students who are not ready for a large scale college environment. Post 16 offers English, Maths, Project & Employability qualifications as well as supported work placements.
