The curriculum has a practical, hands-on slant; our outdoor and physical activity programmes are central to everything we do.
These are studied at Entry Level in Years 7, 8 and 9, at Level 1 in years 10 and 11, and Level 2 in Years 12 and 13. We will offer Functional Skills qualifications in Maths and English (NCFE) for those students who are ready. Possible additional NCFE subjects include Craft, Design & Technology (CDT) as well as Project (ASDAN Personal & Social Effectiveness).
For Post-16 students options will include Work Experience, Employability & Project as well as Maths & English up to Level 2.
The English and Maths curriculum is based on the NCFE Functional Skills Levels EL1-L2. Lesson planning is done in advance and shaped by feedback from Subject Leads, Curriculum Lead and Centre Managers who available to help with delivery and to carry out regular Teaching Evaluation and Review of Delivery observations.
Other subject curricula have been written by subject area specialists. Schemes of work are available, and it is the responsibility of individual tutors to deliver according to what will work best for the young person concerned.
It is essential that the curriculum is delivered consistently, and Centre Managers and Subject Leads (overseen by the Curriculum Lead) observe lessons on a rolling basis to offer feedback, support and guidance.
